MRF Contracting was engaged by Natural England to deliver sensitive clearance and restoration works across protected wetland habitats. We cleared silt from internal ditches, reprofiled banks to improve future reed management and mowed existing reeds before excavation began. 1,000 m³ of clay was excavated and stockpiled for Natural England to use in future.

To protect the habitat we deployed a 14t excavator running on BioOil, fitted with converted 1.2 m wide tracks to reduce ground pressure. Plant movements were planned to avoid rutting, refuelling took place on protective mats, a strict biosecurity plan was followed and UXO risk was assessed with specialist consultants before work started.

All works were carried out in close consultation with ecological specialists, improving water flow and creating better conditions for biodiversity.
