MRF Contracting was engaged by Natural England to deliver sensitive clearance works across protected wetland habitats, requiring a highly controlled approach to minimise environmental impact.
To achieve this, we deployed a 14t excavator running on BioOil and fitted with converted 1.2m wide tracks, specially adapted to reduce ground pressure and disturbance to delicate soils and vegetation. This ensured the works could be carried out effectively while safeguarding the integrity of the protected habitat.
On site, our teams undertook specialist ditch clearances and bank reprofiling, supporting ecological objectives by improving water flow and creating conditions more favourable for biodiversity. All works were carried out in close consultation with ecological specialists, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements.
The project demonstrated MRF’s capability to deliver specialist ecological contracting in challenging environments, using innovative machinery adaptations and environmentally responsible methods to support habitat management and enhancement.
